MARIELLA SOSA
Venezuelan born Photographer/ Director Mariella Sosa began her photographic journey at a very early age: “I've always felt that nature and music were my early inspirations, and I still feel that today.” Mariella's ability to capture a subject with her camera, be it an actor, singer, model, animal, or product, is simply unique, and the reason why she has been called “a miracle worker” of the lens. For the last 35 years, Mariella Sosa has been compiling a respected and strong portfolio within the Latin entertainment industry, creating an immediately recognizable presence with her work. Personalities such as singer Gloria Estefan and her husband music producer Emilio Estefan, actor / musician Andy Garcia, singer Selena, and the master of the romantic song in Spanish, Juan Gabriel, have all been photographed by Mariella. There have been many highlights in Mariella's career, but special mention must be made of a 1995 concert held in Guantanamo, Cuba, and orchestrated by Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Andy Garcia, and mambo master Cachao. The concert not only sought to make known the plight of the Cuban refugees held in Guantanamo, but also provide them with some entertainment from their Cuban brothers and sisters. And Mariella was the only photographer on the premises who documented this historical event for the world to enjoy. Based in South Beach, Mariella has also been one of the city's artistic forerunners as its renaissance took place. Mariella has not only made a name for herself shooting album covers but also by directing music videos for Sony Music, Universal Music, EMI, BMG, Fonovisa, live concerts, and an Urban Latino Entertainment show, "Da Klick", featured on Telemundo International, LATV, and Mega TV. The show focused on the Urban Latino Music movement showcasing the latest in music videos, artist, the most current entertainment news, and much more. Mariella finished producing and directing her first feature documentary "La Clave" based on the similarities between the two musical genres Salsa and Reggaeton. The film features a long list of musical geniuses from each genre coming together to discuss how two extremely different genres have so many similarities. Mariella and her crew traveled to Puerto Rico and New York in order to bring this film together. With a star studded cast and incredible soundtrack, this film is sure to bring much success to Mariella's already successful career. She is currently in the pre-production phase of her next feature film.
